Position Statement  

  • Address political structure, media, fairboards, supporters, legislatures and commodity groups.

  • Enhance educational need of project.

  • Eliminate unethical activities.


Desired Outcomes  

  • Educate regarding the main purpose of the project: the project is a vehicle to de­velop the youth.

  • Carry the realization to groups not attending this symposium that we do have a problem.

  • Educate external groups on ways to return shows to an ethical/educational focus.  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Action Items

  • Coordinate future symposium meetings with conflicts from national fair boards, NVTA, extension and other stakeholder meetings.

  • Continue symposium; send copies of National Code of Ethics with a cover letter to all fair and expositions, 4‑H and FFA, ag educators, and breed associations at state levels requesting their help in disseminating information, and state presidents, FFA , and ag advisors on the state level.
     

  • External groups to invite into council planning committees.

  • Create database of success stories nationwide.
     

  • Get on agendas with the state fair managers, lAFE, 4‑H, FFA, and education meetings.
     

  • Develop/locate an educational brochure that emphasizes goals and needs of livestock projects.
     

  • Conduct trainings to promote and empower Master Volunteer, 4‑H Ambassador, etc. to communicate goals, messages and procedures of programs.
     

  • Encourage external groups to be on planning management committees: let them have a voice. Stakeholders are segmented and need opportunity to work together.
