Action Items

  • Negotiate with all appropriate groups to develop a common code of ethics for use by all major show organizations. National fair and show associations, cooperative extensions, veterinarians, ag science instructors and any other appropriate groups should be included in this process.

  • Encourage inclusion of code provisions as basis for premium books of all stockshow activities and communication to show participants.

  • Seek state and national legislation to support provisions of the code.

  • Encourage voluntary participation in a legal defense fund that will be available to forestall legal challenges to enforcement of the code.

  • Develop and use systems like the Rule Infraction Database (RID) to exchange information regarding violation of the National Code of Ethics.

  • Communicate the "Wholesome Assurance Statement" to national fair and show associations, breed associations, cooperative extensions, veterinarians, ag science instructors and any other appropriate groups and encourage its use in premium or rule books at all levels of competition.
