National Livestock Showring Code of Ethics. |

Promote
ethical behavior on the part of all people involved in the
exhibition of livestock.

Facilitate
the exchange of information that will enhance ethical behavior.

Enhance
the public perception regarding the husbandry and food safety
issues related to livestock exhibitions.

Action
Items
-
Negotiate
with all appropriate groups to develop a common code of ethics
for use by all major show organizations. National fair and show
associations, cooperative extensions, veterinarians, ag science
instructors and any other appropriate groups should be included
in this process.

Encourage
inclusion of code provisions as basis for premium books of all
stockshow activities and communication to show participants.

Seek
state and national legislation to support provisions of the
code.

Encourage
voluntary participation in a legal defense fund that will be
available to forestall legal challenges to enforcement of the
code.

Develop
and use systems like the Rule Infraction Database (RID) to
exchange information regarding violation of the National Code of
Ethics.

Communicate
the "Wholesome Assurance Statement" to national fair
and show associations, breed associations, cooperative
extensions, veterinarians, ag science instructors and any other
appropriate groups and encourage its use in premium or rule
books at all levels of competition.
